Central Jakarta Needs Nail-Sweeper Car

Although police and nail sweeper team have aggressively monitored the areas and streets that are prone to nail trap, it is still rampant in Central Jakarta. As a matter of fact, the area in front of the State Palace is categorized as nail trap-prone area, aside Karet Bivak and Roxy. Hence, Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department plans to propose the procurement of nail-sweeper car to Transportation Department.

Indeed, our nail-sweeper devices are still lacking. The device looks like a hoe with magnet on it

“Indeed, our nail-sweeper devices are still lacking. The device looks like a hoe with magnet on it,” said Head of Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Syamsuddin, to beritajakarta.com, Thursday (4/10).

2 Kilograms of Nails Swept from Streets in East Jakarta

According to Syamsuddin, his sub-department only has three nail-sweeper devices. Two of them are used manually, while the rest is taped on car. “Everything is still manual. If the situation becomes serious, we will propose for the procurement of nail-sweeper car,” he asserted.

To overcome nail trap problem, Syamsuddin told that his sub-department will coordinate with the police in a bid to hunt those who spread the nails. “Since this is for public service, anyone could join in to overcome this nail trap crime,” he uttered.

Besides coordinating with the police, Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department will also involve Satpol PP in handling nail traps on the streets. Thus, this crime act could be eliminated optimally. “Usually in nail trap-prone areas there are tire repairmen in a radius of five meters. As for nail trap in front of the State Palace, we could collect nearly one kilogram of nails every morning,” finished Syamsuddin.
